The new #18k #Everosegold #Rolex #Skydweller with a silver dial. It’s already sized for my wrist! But belongs to a great client of mine. I wasn’t a fan until I started playing with the settings.
The Skydweller was the first Rolex in a very long time where Rolex teased the public before the Baselworld in Switzerland. With a beautiful video of clouds and sky, most of us figured it was going to be an all-new sport model and we sure were hoping for such a watch!
But noooo, the Skydweller debuted with it’s very first annual calendar feature and 24-hour dial in the middle of the dial. After playing around with the watch, all the settings are basically in the fluted bezel. Which is a very nice idea so it keeps the watch crisp and clean in appearance. Once you figure it out, it’s very simple to set. It didn’t take me long even without looking at the manual.
The Skydweller was first offered in 18K Yellow and White Gold, along with Everose. This priced the watch either on leather or bracelet at $45,000 to $54,000. So it was out of reach for most of the masses.
In 2017, Rolex not only debuted the Skydweller in Rolesor (two-tone) but also has offered the watch this year in full stainless steel as well. The Rolesor model only has 3 dial colors to choose from, white, black and champagne gold. The stainless model in blue, black and white.
I may just have to save for a stainless.
